Every day we support apprentices in a wide range of Early Years settings (such as day nurseries, pre-schools and playgroups) and we know just how fulfilling it can be to help young children learn and develop. By completing this apprenticeship you’ll become a highly skilled and trained professional, experiencing first-hand how to support and make a positive difference to a young child so that they develop well and are kept healthy and safe.

About the programme

You’ll be supported by our highly skilled, enthusiastic and passionate team of Early Years and Childcare experts every step of the way to complete the programme.

We deliver the learning over 14 months with the End Point Assessment (EPA) from month 15 so that you’re ready and prepared for the next step in your development. Throughout the apprenticeship you’ll receive a rich and wide range of learning opportunities to get the appropriate knowledge, skills and behaviours so that you’re able to successfully complete the programme and progress in your career.

Training is delivered both on-the-job and off-the-job. You’ll receive regular workplace face to face teaching and observations as well as joining webinars, completing online learning and independent tasks.

Your Trainer will support you every month with a teaching and learning session and be on hand at all times so that you get the very best support when you need it.

Is the apprenticeship for you?

A career in childcare is extremely rewarding and the skills you’ll develop throughout the programme will help you progress in the sector. Apprentices who complete the Early Years Educator programme and go on to gain additional experience will be well placed to become the manager of an early years setting.

You’ll play an important part in the growth and progression of a child, supporting individuals in their early stages of development and through their first steps for a future successful life in developing key skills. You will gain an in depth understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and the role of the keyworker.

If you’ve got a real passion for helping children, able to care, support and guide positive actions, this might be the programme for you.

Helping children to develop the right knowledge, skills, behaviours and understanding is vital to their future. So you’ll be at the heart of this process.

What you’ll learn

You’ll develop a range of essential childcare skills and behaviours that employers want and value in the sector so that you’re skilled and able to make a positive difference to the lives of children.

Key learning topics covered during the apprenticeship include:

  • Key worker responsibility
  • Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • Child development
  • Theories and approaches on how children learn and develop
  • Legal requirements including Health & Safety and Safeguarding

As part of the apprenticeship you’ll also complete the:

  • TQUK Level 3 Diploma for the Children’s Workforce (Early Years Educator, RQF).
  • Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid Course or Emergency First Aid course

If you don’t have Level 2 English and maths we’ll help you to achieve this before reaching end point assessment. Our team of highly skilled specialist English and Maths Tutors can provide additional support if needed.

    How you’ll learn

    Our sector expert staff will support you to achieve the apprenticeship. We have highly skilled and knowledgeable staff with significant experience of working in the industry who will be able to share their experiences and support you.

    We deliver the programme throughout the year providing you with the flexibility to start the apprenticeship when it meets your needs. All learning is either on a 1-2-1 basis or small group webinars so you have the best experience possible with sector experts.

    • EPA preparation and support, including Gateway Readiness Check and mock tests

    You will also record and track your learning progress through the OneFile e-portfolio, helping to support and evidence your journey.
