About the programme

Our 12 month blended learning programme is designed to help instil the confidence, skills, knowledge and behaviours required to be a successful teaching assistant. You’ll be working under the close supervision of a teacher, supporting and helping children and young people to learn within a high quality experience. Throughout the programme you’ll play a vital role in the development of the class and will be contributing to its long term success, helping to create and make a positive lasting impact for the future.

The programme is suitable for anyone starting their career in a classroom environment or looking to work in the sector. Typical job roles of apprentices we support include Teaching Assistant, Classroom Support/Assistant and Learning Support Assistant. 

What you’ll learn

You’ll develop the skills to help you enhance the learning experience of children and young people as well as supporting the teaching itself through assisting with planning and development activities. We’ll help you gain a better understanding of what it takes to deliver a quality learning experience, ensure you know what it takes to support the development of children and young people and ensure you have the skills to support the teacher in reviewing and assessing the progression of individuals.

    How you’ll learn

    We deliver the programme throughout the year providing you with the flexibility to start the apprenticeship when it meets your needs. All learning is delivered on a 1-2-1 basis so you have the best experience possible with sector experts.

    We have designed a 12 month blended programme that is delivered in the work place with on and off the job training. This includes:

    • Mandatory and optional units that can be tailored by you to meet your interests
    • Face to face sessions
    • Independent learning
    • 1-2-1 progress reviews
    • Remote support
    • Specialist English/maths support (if needed)
    • Advice/guidance

    You will also record and track your learning progress through the OneFile e-portfolio, helping to support and evidence your journey. OneFile is an industry leading and award winning online service which can be accessed 24/7 anywhere and through any device. Even if you’re offline and have no signal.
