About the programme
This is a level 5 Higher Apprenticeship Framework for those working as Adults’ Residential Managers, Adults’ Managers and Adults’ Advanced Practitioners in Adult Social Care.
This Framework has been developed by Skills for Care based on the input of employers in the adult social care sector, so is designed by the sector for the sector.
The apprenticeship programme embeds a research project that you’ll undertake independently, but with the support of our expert team.
Throughout the apprenticeship you’ll benefit from the insight and knowledge of our highly skilled occupational expert in-house adult social care Trainers. The first rate support and service you’ll receive from our experts will enable you to successfully complete the programme and have the competence to progress in the sector.
This is a 12 month programme with the opportunity to specialise in different elements of adult social care. You’ll gain invaluable knowledge that can be applied in your everyday activities to improve the quality of care available.
Is the apprenticeship for you?
This apprenticeship is available to all those who are currently qualified up to and including degree level (Qualified nurses are eligible!).
You should be in a reasonably senior role to be able to fulfil the requirements of this apprenticeship. The programme is aimed at Team Managers, Supervising Care Workers or Service Managers who are already responsible for a service.
Adults’ Residential Manager – Management of day to day provision in a residential service as an assistant manager, deputy, unit or service manager. May include responsibility as Registered Manager of the Service.
Adults’ (non-residential) Manager – Management of day to day provision in a service that is not residential (e.g. Domiciliary Care, Day Service). This could be as assistant manager, deputy, unit or service manager. May also include responsibility as Registered Manager of the Service.

How you’ll learn
You’ll be assigned a dedicated sector expert Trainer to support you to achieve the apprenticeship and help you every step of the way. We have highly skilled and knowledgeable staff with significant experience of working in the industry, who will be able to share their experiences and support you to successfully progress.
We deliver the programme throughout the year providing you with the flexibility to start the apprenticeship when it meets your needs.
Our 12 month programme includes:
- Face to face sessions
- Remote support
- Ongoing mentoring, coaching and support
- Specialist English/maths support (if needed)
You will also record and track your learning progress through the OneFile e-portfolio, helping to support and evidence your journey. OneFile is an industry leading and award winning online service which can be accessed 24/7 anywhere and through any device.
