A Higher Level Apprenticeship functions in a similar way to the other levels in that you will undertake a combination of work-based learning and theory-based learning. Throughout the year 2015 – 2016 there were 19,200 new Higher Level Apprenticeship starts.

Because this apprenticeship is of a high standard, there are currently fewer places available due to a lower number of employers offering them, however with the Government’s commitment to apprenticeships, this is set to change.

The level 4-5 Higher Apprenticeships are the equivalent to a pre-university Foundation Degree, while the level 6-7 Higher Apprenticeships are the equivalent to a Bachelor of Arts or a Master of Science degree. To enrol in this programme, you must have completed an Advanced Level Apprenticeship, A Levels, an Advanced Diploma or an International Baccalaureate.

Many apprentices who have completed the level 4-5 Higher Apprenticeship course continue in education to enrol onto a Degree level apprenticeship, where you are paid for your apprenticeship alongside gaining a degree with no fee!

While there still remains fewer Higher Apprenticeships available, we are seeing a growing number of employers offering them as they become increasingly aware of rising university fees putting students off full-time degree courses.

A Higher Level Apprenticeship will equip you with the industry knowledge and professional skills to progress in your chosen sector or onto further education, forming the basis of your career.

Here at Interserve Learning & Employment we offer a wide range of Higher Level Apprenticeships in a variety of locations and sectors. View our vacancies here or contact us to enquire about your next steps!
