Moving On Up – Ashleigh’s Story of Personal Progression

Ashleigh Riley’s progression story highlights the vast amount of opportunity that is available at Interserve.

Ashleigh is our HR Shared Services Manager. Speaking about her success and progress so far, Ashleigh said that:

“My first real job fresh out of college was with Interserve, I started as an apprentice administrator in the Sector Support Team. My role included data entry and administration, supporting our apprentices through their learner journey. I enjoyed working in the team a lot, however I had a desire to progress within the company and quickly started thinking about which career path I wanted to take, tracking internal vacancies that were advertised.

I was interested in a vacancy that came up so I applied for the role of HR Administrator in 2013 which I was subsequently offered. I was really excited and keen to learn as this was completely new to me and during my time as a HR Administrator I learned a lot and I was eager to keep learning and developing. Late in 2014 I started a CIPD course and upon completion I became a HR Advisor which included giving our managers advice and guidance on employment law. At this point I realised I was really starting to shape my career and almost a year later I became HR Shared Services Team Leader with two direct reports.

I have only recently been promoted to the position of HR Shared Services Manager and I could not have done it without the support of Interserve. I’m really proud of how far I have come in what feels like a short space of time. I’m still keen to develop further and learn new things along the way and I know that my line manager will support me to do so.”
