Rachael explains how taking on an apprentice not only benefited the wider company but also her team as a whole.

Eclipse Magnetics was so pleased with Alice that they went on to employ many more apprentices to support their business growth. After just one year, Jordan started as their second apprentice and is proving to be another great asset. Employing young apprentices has revived the office and has really opened the company’s eyes to what is possible – it has been a great success for us all.
After finishing school, 16-year-old Alice had started and left two sixth forms before deciding that it definitely wasn’t the right thing for her.
"I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I knew I wanted to think for myself. I wanted a job where I could start to gain some responsibility"
Alice discussed her options with the team at Interserve and decided that an apprenticeship would give her the responsibility and wage she wanted, at the same time as allowing her to continue her education. Alice went for an interview at Eclipse Magnetics in Sheffield in March 2014 and shone through as the perfect candidate they were looking for.
During her first year, as well as successfully completing her level 2 qualification in Business Admin, Alice also won an award for Exceptional Contribution!
Her role in Customer Service has developed over the past two years and she has now been given the responsibility for looking after a large corporate customer. Her involvement in project management has developed her skills further, enabling her to start her degree level apprenticeship in April.
