Douglas Scott is an ambitious and growing legal recruitment company. Employing more than 70 people in the North West of England through its base in Manchester, the company also has offices in London, Birmingham, Liverpool and Leeds. Speaking to account manager at Interserve Laura Vose, Administration Manager Rachel Barton from Douglas Scott had this to say about the value of Apprenticeships:
“We have supported apprentices for over four years now. We’re firm believers in the Apprenticeship programme and we think it’s a perfect way to introduce young people to different career options. Apprenticeships provide the opportunity for school leavers to earn money, gain a qualification and acquire office experience which really opens up their future options; especially when competition for careers can be so fierce for those without previous experience.
By working hard to gain their qualifications whilst employed full-time, our current apprentices have shown a great deal of dedication to their career ambitions and we have found them to be an invaluable support to our business. In fact, our past apprentices have been so successful that many have received promotions and are excelling within their departments, including in our recruitment team, finance, marketing and IT.
Last summer Tom, Brandon and Zoya joined the team as apprentices and have settled into their roles well since joining us, they’re working hard to gain their National Vocational Qualifications in Business Administration. Their input into daily office life here at Douglas Scott is an inestimable treasured resource. They’re the first point of contact for our clients and candidates, they process CVs, help us to coordinate events, administer important documentation and enable us to carry out large database projects.”
“Working as an apprentice at Douglas Scott has helped me to understand what a real job is like. I really enjoy it and I’m still learning everyday with the support of Interserve too.”
“I really enjoy working at Douglas Scott and undertaking my apprenticeship because earning while learning is a great balance. It has given me the motivation that I have been seeking for my educational journey. Douglas Scott also provides security, progression and growth within the business, which is reassuring as I’m taking the first step into my career. The future seems very hopeful!”
“I really enjoy my Apprenticeship at Douglas Scott, I believe it’s a company that is growing every day which is great to be a part of. Working in an office to complete my Apprenticeship has expanded my skills and its helping me to become a recruitment consultant in the future. I want to work for a company that is really going places and at Douglas Scott I feel inspired.
