Whether you’re a small or medium enterprise (SME) or a large, corporate employer, the ever-changing landscape for recruiting and developing staff can be challenging. As one of the largest providers of education, training and employability services, we’re here to help, be that through expanding your workforce with a high quality recruitment service, enhancing the calibre of current staff through Apprenticeships and work-based vocational qualifications or filling valuable work placement vacancies with eager trainees and work experience candidates.

Employer driven training; the Apprenticeship Levy

The Apprenticeship Levy and reform is one of the biggest changes on the training and development horizon. The introduction of the levy in 12 months’ time will help to drive the 3 million Apprenticeship target set by the Government for 2020, generating funding from employers with an annual wage bill of £3 million or more. The advantages of the levy for those same employers could well exceed the 0.5% rate that will be applied to their payroll, as well as becoming a key initiative to help boost economic productivity through improved skills in the workplace.

Investing in the future of your business

The Government’s intention is for the Apprenticeship levy to encourage employers to invest more in their workforce training and development and to put them in the driving seat, purchasing directly the training provision they need from quality-assured training providers like us.

From our experience as a large employer and as an independent provider, Interserve Learning & Employment firmly believes that employers can be confident in taking advantage of the levy and securing a return on their investment from high quality Apprenticeships delivered to meet their evolving needs. This can be done through a combination of recruiting apprentices for new vacancies, using training to reduce staff turnover, increasing the productivity of existing staff through upskilling, developing talent through career progression and helping to improve staff morale.

Overall, employers taking full advantage of the levy will be able to ensure career pathways are fully matched by a learning curriculum ranging from Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeships through to Level 6 and 7 Degree Apprenticeships.
