The Apprenticeship Levy
What is the Levy?
From April 2017, the way the Government funds apprenticeships in England is changing.
If your payroll is over £3m per year, you will pay a levy of 0.5% across your payroll, which can only be spent on apprenticeships. The government will also 'top-up' this amount by 10%;
If your payroll is less than £3m, for every £1 you spend on apprenticeships, the Government will contribute a further £9 – meaning you only pay for 10% of the total cost.
There are a range of incentives available, and detailed rules on exactly what you pay, when and how.
