Laura Whitehead has long been a valued member of the Interserve Learning and Employment (ILE) team and she has progressed significantly, as the company has developed over the last five years.

She joined ILE (previously ESG group) in 2012 as a Hairdressing & Barbering Trainer Assessor. After three years, Laura saw an internal secondment opportunity to become Area Manager for Hairdressing & Barbering in the North West and applied. The secondment allowed Laura to grow in confidence, gain transferable management skills and progress her career. Laura then used these skills to become a permanent Area Manager for Childcare in 2016.

Speaking about her journey with ILE, Laura shared: “over the last four years I have worked with some truly inspiring people and I would like to say thanks for their support and guidance, I have embraced new opportunities that I have been given within the business. I would like to think that I am proof that if you work hard, have the enthusiasm, determination and motivation that drives you forward, you can learn so much which will allow you to progress and achieve great things with great people.”

Manager’s Commendation

Laura’s new manager and Childcare Head of Sector, Karen Derbyshire added that: “during her interview Laura demonstrated a fantastic understanding of the job role and what is required along with a natural fit to Interserve’s values. Myself and Operations Director, Emma Smith-Brindley, were blown away by her during the interview and were both in agreement about her suitability for the role. I am really looking forward to working with Laura and sharing her ideas and experience with the sector. She has joined a fantastic team who will fully support her in her new role.”
